Richard "Richie" M. Casey

Richard “Richie” Mark Casey, from Cambridge, Massachusetts, loving husband and father, passed away on January 12, 2024 surrounded by his wife and sons after a courageous battle with cancer.

Richie was married and survived by Susan (Gilley) Casey residing in Eliot, Maine. He was the proud and loving father to his four sons; Addison, Hanssen, Dawson and Cullen. Richie was the son of the late Aeneas and Stacia Casey. Survived by his siblings Elaine Casey, Maureen Casey de Corcuera and husband Augustin, Aenea Holland, Frances Movsessian, Paul Casey and wife Dali, Stacia Connors, Patricia Knieriem, Stephanie Berlo, Diane Suckley and husband Edward, Joseph Casey and wife Kathryn, Robert Casey and wife Patricia and the late Donald and James. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly. 

Richie was a veteran of the Vietnam war serving in the US Army. In his early years he enjoyed billiards, competing in marathons and triathlons becoming an avid runner, cyclist and swimmer. He was a Retired life long Somerville Massachusetts Professional Firefighter.

Richie enjoyed traveling to Bar Harbor Maine where he met his wife and spent many summers with his boys exploring the islands of Acadia. Richie was a diehard beach lover and would be seen walking the beaches in Maine in the summers and Florida beaches during the winter months. Richie was a man who lived and breathed for his boys and spent many days on an athletic field or court watching them play sports and cheering them on. Richie was full of life and will be missed by not only his family but his firefighter brothers and many friends he has met in his lifetime.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in Richie’s name may be sent to: Somerville Fire Local 76 team for the 2024 BFit Challenge, select “On Behalf of Richard Casey”.
