Richard Wilfred Sweeney, 78, died peacefully on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at his home in Somersworth, NH.

Born on April 25, 1946 in Danvers, MA, he is the son of the late John and Helen Sweeney. Raised and educated in Danvers, Richard was a graduate of Danvers High School. Richard and his first wife, Mary Ellen, settled in Beverly, MA to raise their family. In 1988, Richard and Carol-Lynn were married in Wakefield, NH.

An honorably discharged veteran, Richard was drafted in 1965 and was stationed in Germany until 1967.

A hardworking man, Richard worked as a truck driver for many years. He also employed by Service Anytime, working on tractor trailers until his retirement.

Growing up, Richard loved to hunt and fish in Vermont with his family members. As he got older, he was a member of Pease Greeters. He would greet the soldiers going over and coming back from overseas. Richard also enjoyed travelling with the Pease Greeters to display the American flag different places.

In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by Bill Sweeney, Gail, Edith Howard, Lil Sweeney, Phyllis and Ed, Donnie Amor, Irene Plutnick, Lon, Lisa, Richard and Lorraine Howard, and Robert Burnett.

Richard is survived by his wife, Carol-Lynn Sweeney; children, Ricky Sweeney, Wendy Plecinoard, Kristen Muldock, Steven Sweeney; and grandchildren, Kyle, Drew, Zach, Bryce, and Aaron Sweeney, Cody, Devan Plecinoad, Monica and Kiya Muldoon, Anika and Keegan Sweeney; two great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, Robin Burnett Dimeo, Shannon, Sean Burnett, Bill Sweeney Jr., Ian and Emma Sweeney; and extended family and friends.
