Richard LeRoy Tibbetts

Salem, NH - Richard LeRoy Tibbetts, formerly of Saugus, MA, 77, passed away peacefully and without pain on Saturday, March 5, 2022 due to complications from Bladder Cancer. 

He is survived by devoted wife of over 43 years, Ethel Marie “Dee” (Maraziti) also of Salem, NH; loving daughter, Kimberly of Lynn, MA and her fiancé, Blake Leclair; two grandsons, Dylan and Dustin; brother, Robert and his wife Christine, two nephews, Jason and Jeremy of Connecticut; sister-in-Law, Sandra Maraziti of Seabrook, NH, and niece Laura Motherway. He is pre-deceased by his mother, Doris (Sanford) Tibbetts, 25 years to the day. 

A longtime resident of Saugus, MA, he graduated from SHS in 1963 and entered the Air Force. Serving during the Vietnam war, he was stationed in Alaska welcoming back in injured soldiers. Upon his return he worked in sales. In April 1978, he married the love of his life, Dee and they welcomed their only child, Kimberly, in June of 1982. A hard and dedicated worker at various lumber yards over the course of his life, most recently Moynihan Lumber in Beverly, MA until his retirement. 

An avid reader, Civil War Historian, Walt Disney World Traveler and Train Enthusiast - he was the quiet one in the room, with quick wit, the blessing of comedic timing and the patience to solve any desktop puzzle. He rarely had an unkind word for others and was at his happiest watching Jeopardy!, quoting classic movies and being with his family. 

ARRANGEMENTS: A Celebration of Life will be held at Kimberly’s home on Walnut St in Lynn, MA from 10am-2pm on Saturday April 23rd welcoming all. A private scattering of ashes will be held at Gettysburg Battlefield per his request at a later date. Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH, Manchester. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Richard’s name to The American Cancer Society, American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
