Robert Beaulieu

Robert Beaulieu, age 85, passed peacefully.

Known for his unending strings of gentle teasing to embrace every moment and generate harmony all around him, Bob muttered his last 'tease' on Wednesday September 16th, 2020.

Anyone levied with a dementia diagnosis could easily become defined by it, but Bob would have none of that! For far too long after his mind started to fail him – he maintained a sense of purpose by starting a new odd job around the house, then forgetting where he left off, he would start all over again! One of the final gifts his wife Pauline of 58 years offered him was to follow behind him just so she could help him figure out what he was actually working on!!

The way he passed was the way he lived! In the moment and low key. We take comfort that his last moment was simply closing his eyes.

An enlisted PFC in the Army – Bob served his country proudly for two years active duty in the Korean war and four more years in the reserves. In 1963, he and his young family moved to New Hampshire to help his aunt operate her store, Yvonne's Fish and Chips. He then went to work at The Gas Service, which later became known as Energy North and Liberty Utilities. After 30+ years of service, he retired in 1998.

Like many husbands, his second job was 'the honey-do list'. Bob loved to work with his hands and build things, but being frugal and practical, he took 'do-it-yourself' to another level! Perhaps his only real fault – he never liked to read directions! So, being a people-person with a deep network of friends and confidants, Bob preferred to talk to folks in order to learn ways of doing things. He enjoyed the process of developing ideas, forming a plan, and trying to build every element from scratch. After some trial & error over the years, he became a highly skilled carpenter and built the addition on the family home including its sophisticated cabinetry!

Drawn to the outdoors, Bob maintained a summer campsite for our family. A 'best of all worlds' kind of guy, on nothing more than a slab of dirt, he built a full-size kitchen for ease and comfort – while maintaining the fire-pit and family boat for fun-time! He loved fishing, working the family farm every summer with his brother Donald, boating, downhill skiing, hunting, and disc shooting. Never afraid to try something new, he even dabbled in photography and golf in his later years.

Bob used his deep faith in God and sense of right and wrong to guide his life choices. He served his church as a Eucharistic Minister at Prince of Peace Church in Florida, as well as running and organizing the coffee and donuts program for several years.

Throughout his life he was honored to dedicate himself to the Knights of Columbus earning his invitation to join the Fourth Degree Sir Knights - the highest and most prestigious degree reserved for those few whose duty extends beyond their own lives and into how they serve the broader community of fellow men.

Bob will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his wife Pauline, their three children, Michele Connor; Dominique Beaulieu; and Louise Jones and her husband Clark, three grandchildren, Bradford, Jennica, and Jessica, two great grandchildren, Ashland and Nevaeh, two brothers Alfred and his wife Addie, and Donald and his wife Carolyn, and two nieces Denise and Celeste. He is pre-deceased by his brother Ernie.
