Robert “Bob” Maurer, 75, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He leaves behind a life marked by adventure and deep devotion to family.

Bob was a loving husband to Linda, his wife of 51 years. Together, they built a life grounded in partnership, laughter, and family. Over the years, they created many memories together, enjoying international travel, camping trips, road trips, and everyday life side by side.

As a teenager growing up in Colorado, Bob loved football, wrestling, and bowling, interests that helped him develop the determination that would carry him through life. During the Vietnam era, he joined the Marine Corps, proudly serving his country before pursuing a career in education. Through hard work and perseverance, he put himself through college and became a high school math teacher, a profession that suited both his sharp mind and steady, patient nature.

Bob found joy in time spent with the people he loved and rarely passed up the chance to enjoy life. He had a lifelong love of astronomy and enjoyed sharing the wonder of the night sky through his telescope with his children, grandchildren, and many of his students.

In his forties, Bob made a life-changing move to Southeast Alaska, which became home for many years. He eventually completed his teaching career in Klawock, where he was known not only as a teacher, but as someone who loved sharing fishing adventures with family and friends. Many of his best stories began out on the water, chasing salmon, hefting halibut, and swapping stories. In the final chapter of his life, Bob made his home in Rochester, New Hampshire, where he especially cherished time with his grandchildren and enthusiastically embraced New England's lobster offerings.

Above all, Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his daughters, Jennifer (Jeremy) Lilley and Michelle (Ryan) Wangerin; his grandchildren, James, John, Sarah, and Allison; and his siblings, Richard (Margaret Hepler) Maurer, Judy (Joe) DiScipio, Jean (Vern) Dwinell, Marty (Diane) Maurer, Linda Klinkel, and Mark Maurer. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bob will be remembered for his quiet strength, adventurous spirit, and the happiness he found in sharing what he loved, whether on the water, the open road, or under the stars. His family takes comfort in knowing that his love, lessons, and stories will live on in the lives he touched.
