Robert Ernest, "Captain Bob", "Hank" Bournival, 80, of Rochester, passed away
December 17, 2011, peacefully at his home.
He was born in Manchester on July 15, 1931 the second oldest of ten children of Ferdinand and Antoinette (Leveille) Bournival. He attended St. Joseph's, and Central High School in Manchester.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Rochester Post 7 American Legion where he held various offices and VFW Post 1772.
In his early years, Bob worked at the mill yards in Manchester and was also an expert carpenter. He worked with his brother, Richard at Bournival Chrysler Plymouth in Portsmouth for many years. He then owned and operated a franchise of AAMCO Transmission then Tri-City Transmission in Rochester for many years before retiring. He loved to play golf and was a member of the former Charmingfare Links in Candia and Rochester Country Club. He loved to hunt and to fish, especially aboard his boat Happy Hour (a.k.a. USS Never Sail).
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Louisa Tapley of Rochester. And by his three daughters Lynne Heymans and husband, Dennis of Manchester, Catherine Bergeron and husband, Barry of Little River, SC and Jan Bournival of Goffstown; his four grandsons, Brent Bergeron, Alex Lavoie, Stephen Heymans and Ryan Heymans; five sisters, Pauline Atkinson from NY, Jacqueline MacLellan from FL, Marguerite White from AL, Suzanne Matson from FL and Charlotte Pasquerella from MA as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers, Richard, Roger and Albert "Bo"; and a sister, Jeannette Magarian.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 11:30am at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH.
