Robert J.
Corrette
June 15, 1937 – May 27, 2026
Robert John (“Jack" or "Bob”) Corrette passed peacefully from this life into Heaven on May 27, 2026, at home, being cared for by his daughters. He was born prematurely on June 15, 1937, in Keene, N.H., the son of Marion A. (Flagg) and Norman R. Davis. Sadly, his mother died shortly after his birth, and Robert was adopted and raised by his aunt and uncle, Harry and Gladys (Flagg) Corrette, alongside his older brother, Richard. Robert grew up and attended Keene schools graduating from Keene High School, Class of 1955. After graduation he worked in the woolen mills in Swanzey and Troy. Robert joined the Army National Guard in 1961 and was called up to active duty during the Vietnam War, proudly serving his country for six years. He began his career at New Hampshire Ball Bearings (NHBB) through a training program and continued his education by going to night school at New Hampshire Technical Institute in Manchester, earning a certificate of engineering. Robert worked as a tool maker at NHBB for 55 years. While at NHBB, he met his future wife Louise Davis, of Francestown. They eloped March 16, 1964, and were married for 58 years until her passing in 2022. The same year that they wed, the couple purchased and moved to the Flagg family farm in Fitzwilliam where they raised their two daughters, Lisa and Leigh. Robert was the definition of a true “Yankee;" nothing was thrown away if he thought it could be used for another purpose. He was an avid reader, with a deep passion for genealogy, tracing the family tree back to the Romans. He loved his town of Fitzwilliam and served on several town committees and as a selectman. He chaired the Town History Committee writing the book “Fitzwilliam: The Profile of a New Hampshire Town, 1884-1984” published in 1985. A founding member and past president of the Fitzwilliam Historical Society, Robert became known as the town’s “local historian”. Over the years, he contributed many historical articles to the Fitzwilliam Newsletter. He also dabbled in art and created “Fitz-Willy the Cat” cartoons for his friends and grandchildren to laugh at. He served on his Keene High Class of 1955 Reunion Committee, and enjoyed meeting up with his old friends. He also enjoyed spending his free time fishing, hunting and trap shooting at the Fitchburg Sportman’s Club. History came alive when Robert started a Revolutionary War reenactment group for the country’s Bicentennial in 1976, even designing and building a working cannon. He later became a Civil War reenactor with the 6th New Hampshire Regiment and appeared in the film Gettysburg (1993). He also was featured in introductory films at both the Higgins Armory Museum in Worcester, MA and American Precision Museum in Windsor, VT. Robert would also travel to schools and libraries to give various history presentations. Robert was predeceased by his wife, parents, and brother. He is survived by his children, Lisa Livingstone and her husband Paul of Raynham, Mass., and Leigh Corrette of Fitzwilliam. He also leaves his grandchildren, Kimberly Livingstone and her husband Pattarapon Siwapornchai; and Kristen, James and Jennifer Livingstone, along with his half-sisters, and several nieces and nephews. A celebration and commemoration of Robert’s life will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026. A committal ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m., at Pine Grove Cemetery, Royalston Road, Fitzwilliam. A memorial service celebrating Robert’s life will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Fitzwilliam Community Church, 85 New Hampshire Route 119 West on the Fitzwilliam Common. Following the service, a luncheon will be served at the brick house across from the church. Since Robert had a lifetime love of reading and history, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Friends of the Fitzwilliam Town Library, 11 Templeton Turnpike, Fitzwilliam, NH 03447.
