Robert "Roby" Gaudreau, 83, of Concord passed away peacefully, but unexpectedly, Monday February 12, 2018.
A lifelong resident of Concord, NH, he built his first home and raised his family in East Concord. Roby was born March 4, 1934 to Alphonse and Rose (Roy) Gaudreau and graduated from Concord High School where he was captain of his baseball team. He was drafted in February of 1957 and proudly served his country with the US Army, while stationed in Maryland, until February of 1959. He had an extensive career in printing, 40 years of which he spent as an offset pressman with Concord Litho. Roby was a member of the Beaver Meadow Golf Course, East Concord Lamplighters and the Turtletown Snow-snappers. In retirement, Roby found a great deal of enjoyment working as the crossing guard at Broken Ground School.
Roby was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and gardening and any time spent among nature. His deeply competitive nature led him to a love of sports; particularly baseball, golf and coaching youth baseball but he was also widely known for his impressive horseshoe game. Roby enjoyed attending his children's sports events and could be found at each and every game. Roby took great pride in his home, lovingly tending to his property and gardens but above all else, Roby cared most about his family and friends.
Roby is survived by his loving wife, Joanne; his sons, Brian Gaudreau and his wife, Marlene of Yakima WA and Brad Gaudreau and his wife, Kristen of Concord; his daughter Brenda Palmisano and her husband Charlie of Newburyport; his grandchildren Alex Palmisano and Alyssa Gaglione; his great grandson Luke and his sister Pauline Thibeault; as well as nieces and nephews. Roby was predeseased by his sister Lorraine Bailey.
