Robert G. Gerade

Robert G. Gerade, Jr., 93, of Penacook, NH passed away peacefully at home on May 27, 2016 following a period of declining health. His loving wife was by his side.
Robert was born in Malden, MA on August 29, 1922 to Robert Sr. and Eliza (Chadwick) Gerade. He attended Wakefield High School and was a graduate of Northeastern University. Robert's college education was interrupted by the call to duty to WWII and he proudly served his country for three years with the US Army. Following honorable discharge, Robert returned to Northeastern to earn a Bachelor's Degree and went on to become a Chemical Engineer. He spent more than 25 years with Goodall Sanford, then moved on to Plymouth Rubber, eventually retiring after more than a decade of service.
Robert enjoyed playing golf, dancing and woodworking and spent countless hours in his workshop making hundreds of wooden toys. He had a deep love for his family; he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 72 amazing years, Barbara (Kendall) Gerade; his children Robert Graham Gerade and wife Kathie of North Port, FL; Chris Julian and husband Chuck of Penacook, NH; Carl Gerade and wife Beverly of North Reading, MA; Linda Gerade and significant other Ron Hrycuna of Epsom, NH; and daughter-in-law Norrice Gerade and husband Donald Mitchell of Webster, NH; brother Seldon Gerade and wife Virginia of Reading, MA; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one more great-grandchild on the way. Robert was predeceased by his son, Kendall Gerade and his great-granddaughter Marion Joan Lacasse.
Memorial Service with military honors will be held Tuesday, June 7th at 11:00am at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. The Cremation Society of NH is assisting the family with arrangements.
