Robert Andrew Gonyer

Robert A. Gonyer, Jr, 53, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester.

Robert was born in Jackson, Mississippi on May 12, 1969, to the late Robert Andrew Gonyer Sr and Barbara Christine (Ordway) DeRepentigny. The youngest of four children, Robert would become a long-time resident of Manchester, NH, where he would go on to graduate from Memorial High School in 1987.

Following high school, Robert pursued a career with the Airgas Corporation where he worked for the next twenty-five years before leaving to pursue other interests.

Given the nick name ‘Me Too’ as a child for wanting to be like his older brother John, Robert was raised in an extended family with stepsisters Donna and Lisa as well as stepbrothers Tony, Alan and in Errol.  He had a very active childhood and always was out-and-about playing with his friends in the neighborhood. On the weekends, he enjoyed hiking the Appalachian Trail with father and brother John. As an older teen, Robert worked at a grocery store and was able to purchase his first car and motorcycle before even leaving high school.

Throughout his adult life, Robert had a strong circle of friends that he could always count on. He loved his friends and thought of them as family. They would always be doing some type of activity on the weekends whether it was skiing, boating, or traveling. Thanks to Shane, who Robert thought of as big brother or mentor, Brian who was one of his closest friends as well as Christopher, Scott, Dan, Steve and Jimmy for always being there!  You guys are the best!! Special thanks to Karen and Alexandra for their continued support in is Robert’s later years,

Robert had an especially close relationship with his dad and stepmom Fran. They spent a lot of time together over the years and even went on a road trip with his dad across the country. He would always run ideas by his dad for he greatly valued his opinion.   Following his father’s passing, he remained very close to Fran and thought of her as a second Mom.

Robert is survived by his biological siblings, Glenn Gonyer, John Gonyer and Deborah Lindahl; Step siblings, Stacey Sally and Scott Stewart; Stepmother, Fran Gonyer; Niece, Kelly Gonyer; and Nephews, Cory Gonyer and David Lindahl.
