Robert Arthur Goodwin, 83, formerly of Bolton, MA, passed away after a brief illness on September 21, 2025, in Concord, NH. He was born on September 29, 1941, in Malden, MA, to the late Ethel (Hamilton) and Lloyd Goodwin.
He graduated from Reading High School in 1959 and entered the United States Air Force in 1960. He served four years as an aircraft mechanic. He took many courses in engineering before leaving the service in 1964.
He began work in the private sector for Compugraphic Corporation in Reading, MA, where he was lauded for his contribution to the innovative Edit Writer phototypesetter earning him a patent. He was with the company through several mergers and worked there for forty years.
Bob enjoyed boating, waterskiing, and fishing on Long Lake in Maine. He also enjoyed downhill skiing in his younger years. Other past times were spent with a circle of friends and family dining out and getting together.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara Kelly Goodwin. He also was predeceased by his sister, Evelyn (Goodwin) Gaw and brother, Norman Goodwin.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lorilee (Goodwin) and Darin Mather; his son Glen Goodwin and partner, Jennifer Cooper, and his son and daughter in law, Scott and Pamela (Churchill) Goodwin. He is survived by four grandsons: Arric and Chelsea Mather, Drew and Karen Mather, and Bryan and Bailey Goodwin. He also leaves behind six great grandchildren. He is survived by his twin brother Richard Goodwin of Billerica, MA and several nieces and nephews.
Robert’s Celebration of Life will be held on October 4th, directly after the services at the First Parish of Bolton, 673 Main Street, Bolton, MA 01740 (Davis Hall).
