Robert (Bob) Nason Gordon, 82 of Derry / Londonderry, NH, and husband of Joan E. Gordon, passed away quietly with his family by his side on Sunday October 12, 2014. He is the beloved son of Arthur and Vera Gordon of Watertown, MA and brother of Arthur, Vera, Barbara, Eunice, Phyllis, Jean, Joyce, Phillips, John, and George,
He was born in 1932 in Watertown, MA. He attended Watertown high school, did his undergraduate work at Plymouth State College and University of New Hampshire, and received his Masters of Education at Boston University. In between his studies, Bob felt it his duty to serve and joined the US Navy becoming a US Naval Aviator. After the Navy, Bob continued his studies, pursuing his passion for teaching. As an educator, he spent time in Vermont and New Hampshire teaching English and Math, the last of which was at Pinkerton Academy in Derry teaching Calculus. In 1964, Bob left teaching to join Western Electric as a Senior Lead Member of the Technical Staff retiring in 1996.
Bob had an exceedingly strong faith that led him in his daily life. Those that had the opportunity to know Bob understood faith, family and close friends were of the highest importance to him, always having the time to listen, share and provide guidance. Also high on the list was education and the calling to give back to the younger generation. In his desire to do his part, Bob became a member of the Derry, NH School Board and throughout the years has given generously to those less fortunate in their pursuit of a higher education. By all measures, Bob was an exceedingly generous, caring and giving man. He will be dearly missed.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Joan E. Gordon, and Son's Mark Gordon and his wife Emilia Gordon, Stephen Gordon and his wife Di Gordon, and Charles Gordon and his wife Vicki Gordon. Beloved Grandfather of Jonathan Gordon, Nathan Gordon, Andrew Gordon, Brittany Gordon and Daniel Watt, Brendan Gordon, Madisyn Gordon, Ryan Gordon and Great Granddaughter Elyse Watt.
Services: It is with sincerest respect, memorial services will be limited to relatives and burial services limited to immediate family. He will be buried at the N.H. State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH. Due to flower restrictions, please do not send flowers. In lieu of flowers, and in his loving memory, please send donations to your favorite charity.
