Robert John Hagen passed away peacefully on September 20, 2021, at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon after a courageous and noble fight against an aggressive cancer diagnosis. He was 76 years old.
Robert, or Pa as he was affectionately known by his family, was born and raised in New York. He was very talented and a hard worker, being successful in many business ventures, including real estate and woodworking, but his true love was graphic design and art. He had created his own business called the Hagen Group.
Robert married Geraldine Maggiore in 1963 and they settled in Long Island, NY, where they raised their two sons. After several visits around New England, they fell in love with Vermont and New Hampshire, moving to Vermont in 1989, and then eventually settling in New Hampshire permanently.
Robert was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and the NE Patriots, and a very proud and loyal fan of the WVU Mountaineers. He enjoyed fine cars, drawing and painting, but most of all spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He coached little league baseball in Norwich and youth football in Hanover for several years; and was a former volunteer with the United Way.
Robert is survived by his wife Gerry of West Lebanon; son John and Tina, of Montpelier; son Michael, Janice and Cody of Grantham; and three grandsons, Tyler and Jessi of Seattle; Ryan and Megan and their daughter Nora of Lebanon; and Brandon of Long Island. He is also survived by his sister Susan and Pete Mulligan and their family of Long Island; and by Milt Baker and his family of Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center or to the United Way of New Hampshire.
