Robert S. Holt , 80, of Shrewsbury, MA, formerly of Grantham, NH, Farmington, ME and Keene, NH, died suddenly on Sunday, March 28, 2004 at Concord Regional Hospital, Concord, NH surrounded by his three children and their spouses. Born 1924 in Sunapee, NH, he was one of eight children of Ernest and Harriet (Thurber) Holt. He graduated from Sunapee High School, received his Bachelors Degree from Keene Teachers College, and a Masters Degree in Industrial Education at Texas A & M University. Mr. Holt was a US Air Force veteran having served as a lieutenant in World War II, earning a Purple Heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a Vocational Education consultnat for several years at the New Hampshire Department of Education in Concord. Mr. Holt worked in education for 39 years, and was honored as the NH Vocational Industrial Arts Educator. He was advisor to the Lebanon Junior High School Outing Club, and coached many teams, including Lebanon High School Boys Ski Team, and Timberlane Regional High School Girls Softball Team during his years in education. His career also included teaching at Dartmouth College in their Woodworking Arts program. He spent many summers as maintenance director at Camp Pinnacle in Lyme, NH. He was married for forty-nine years to Margaret Joan (Uniack), who died in 1997. He is survived by a sister, Harriet; three children, Kathleen, Elizabeth, and Robert; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held in Sunapee, NH at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 3rd. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the charity of ones choice.
