Robert E. Lafond, 85, of Manchester, NH, passed away on November 19, 2025 after a brave battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Robert (Bob) was born on November 18,1940 to Lucien and Lucille Lafond (Bisson) in Holyoke, MA. He was a graduate of Precious Blood High School in Holyoke, MA. Robert was a veteran of the US Navy (ATS3) serving aboard the USS WASP. He also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in business from Franklin Pierce College.
In 1958, he met Elaine J. Lafond (Genereux) and they wed on June 23, 1962, going on to have four children, Lisa, Robert Jr, Richard, and Linda.
Bob retired after working as a Knights of Columbus insurance agent. He also worked many years as a sales representative in the swimming pool industry. Prior to this he was in the insurance industry in risk assessment with Commercial Union Insurance. Bob spent his spare time golfing, bowling, playing cribbage, and spoiling his grandchildren.
Bob was predeceased by his wife of 63 years Elaine, his parents, Lucien and Lucille, his brother Ronald Lafond, His sisters; Margaret “Peggy” (Pappas) and husband James Pappas, and Sandra (Chamberlain) and husband Ken Chamberlain. He was also predeceased by his son-in-law, Richard Reed. Bob is survived by his four children, Lisa Reed (Lafond), Robert Lafond Jr. and his wife Rachel, Richard Lafond and his wife Lisa, Linda Beaver (Lafond) and her husband Matthew, his six grandchildren: Emily Reed, Christian Reed and his wife Amanda, James Lafond, Mary Elaine Beaver, Grace Andrews and Liam Andrews. He is also survived by his brother Allan Lafond and his wife Lynn, a sister-in-law Nina Lafond, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, December 15th, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Road, Londonderry, NH 03053. Burial will take place at the New Hampshire Veteran’s Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH (arrival at 1:45 for 2:00pm service).
The family is deeply grateful to the staff at Bedford Nursing & Rehab Center and the Elliot VNA Hospice Team for the kindness and care they showed Bob over the past several months. His warm heart and his unforgettable phrase, “Oh baby,” will live on in the memories of those who knew him.
