ROBERT (BOB) H. LENSKOLD

April 16, 1940 - May 30, 2024

Robert (Bob) Lenskold was born on April 16th, 1940, in Montclair, New Jersey to his parents Dorothy and Harry Lenskold. The last name, Lenskold, heralding the family’s Danish heritage, was originally spelled Lenskjöld, but was changed during WWII due to anti-German sentiment. Bob and his older sister Lois Walstead grew up with their parents in Westfield, NJ, where he met his bride to be, Mary (Betsey) Lenskold in second grade at the age of 7. They married on June 8, 1963, and later had two children, Kirsten and Jon.

After high school, Bob attended the RCA Institutes in New York City. He later graduated with a BS in electronic engineering from Monmouth College in New Jersey. In this emerging field, Bob’s career was filled with exciting opportunities that were challenging the bounds of technology. His many career accomplishments included the work he did on a camera sent to the moon, the development of CT scanners, and airport security for the Moscow Olympics. As his career progressed, he moved from technology to marketing and technical support worldwide, leading him to travel extensively.

When he wasn’t working, Bob had several hobbies, including rebuilding cars, house renovations, serving on church committees, and maintaining his family’s several-acre property adorned with plentiful vegetable gardens, fruit trees, and raspberry bushes. Bob was a wonderful husband and father and cherished his time with his wife and two children, whether working on projects or family vacations.

Upon moving to Kendal Retirement Community in Hanover, NH in 2020, Bob shared his skills and talents with friends both new and old. Always a technologically savvy and handy individual, Bob became best known around Kendal for his love of working in the woodshop and helping his neighbors with many an issue, whether it be troubleshooting difficulties with cars, computers, printers, apple watches, or smart TVs. These opportunities made his retirement and time at Kendal that much richer, and showcased his kindness, intelligence, and passion.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Betsey, his son Jon Lenskold and his wife Lisa, their daughter Kirsten Eastman and her husband David. He is also cherished by his grandchildren; Colin and Jenna Lenskold and Jenna’s husband Josh Paiva, and Caleb and Anika Eastman.

Everyone is invited to honor Bob at his Celebration of Life on July 13, 2024 at 11 AM at the Church of Christ of Dartmouth on College Street in Hanover, NH. Busing will be available. Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH, Boscawen.

Donations in Bob’s memory can be made to the handtoheartproject.org or to the religious organization of your choice.
