Robert Curtis Lenz

Robert Curtis Lenz  passed from this earth on September 15, a beautiful silvery moonlit night. Robert's family and friends gathered round in love and song at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. 

Robert was born in Wilton NH on October 29, 1930 to Frederick W. and Grace (Chandler) Lenz. He grew up on Abbott Hill and was the fourth of eight children. He married his loving wife Janice (LaQuerre) Lenz of Nashua on February 18, 1957 in Plymouth, NH.

Robert is survived by his spouse and their four children, Melanie Dorris of Kernersville, NC, Brenda Schmieder and her husband Paul of Concord, Robin Martin and her husband Paul of Danville, Curtis Lenz of Nashua, and his girlfriend, Desiree Jubinville of Manchester. Robert was a loving and devoted Grampa to Matthew and Joshua Cauthren of Kernersville, NC and Emily Schmieder of Concord.  Robert's surviving siblings are Jean McCullough of Laconia,  and Joan Erhard of Rochester. He was predeceased by his parents and five siblings, Betty, Dottie, George, Bill and David.

Robert enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and served his country for 26 years. Most of his years in service were spent as an Air Traffic Controller. He served in locations through out the U.S. as well as tours in Okinowa and Viet Nam. He was twice awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. Robert received an honorable discharge in 1978 when he retired from Pease AFB, NH with the rank of Master Sgt.

Robert will be remembered for his love of family, his love of country, and his love of a good apple pie! He was a selfless man who always thought to help others first. He was kind and generous, soft spoken and thoughtful. He was able to converse with total strangers and make them feel important. He was a hero and a mentor to many; those whose lives he touched are richer for it.

Services will take place Thursday, Sept 22 at the Cremation Society of NH on 243 Hanover St in Manchester, NH. Calling hours are from 10 to 11 a.m. with a memorial service immediately following. Graveside service will then follow at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Air Force Aid Society or the NH Veterans Cemetery Association.
