Robert Scott Melanson, known to all as Scott, passed away on May 12, 2026, in Lowell, MA at the age of 70, after a courageous battle with a long illness. Born on April 4, 1956, he was the beloved son of the late Charles and Sally Melanson. Scott's life was marked by his love for family, animals, and the open road.
Scott is survived by his loving daughter, Carlee Melanson Montijo, and her husband Guillermo Montijo, his cherished granddaughter, Crystal Pero, and her husband James Pero, and his grandson, Guillermo Montijo whom he helped raise. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles (Chuck) Melanson Jr. Scott's love for animals was well-known; he had a soft spot for strays and always made sure they were fed and cared for. His current feline companion, Prince, held a special place in his heart. He took great pride in caring for others at the VA during his years of work, and worked as a technologist at New England Nuclear. During the summers Scott spent the majority of his time at the lake in Liberty, ME, his favorite place to be.
Scott had a lifelong passion for motorcycles and eagles, symbols of freedom and strength that resonated with his spirit. He proudly displayed his tattoos, each telling a story of his life and experiences, often sharing the joy of getting new ones with his granddaughter. Scott's memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his legacy will live on through his family and friends. We love you Grampy!
