Robert, known as Bampa to his grandkids, was born in 1939 to Marion and George Murray of Salisbury, MA. He was
one of three children and grew up in Salisbury, Rowley, Byfield, Plum Island & Newburyport, MA. At a young age
Robert went to work, settling on his love for automobiles after driving for the first time at the age of twelve. He graduated
from Newburyport High School in 1957 and spent forty-four years working on automobiles. Most of those years were
spent working at Reid’s Service Station in Amesbury, MA. Robert took Florence Chamberlain to the high school prom in
one of Mr. Reid’s cars. The two were later married in Newburyport, MA in 1959. After marriage, Robert and Florence
raised a family of three boys in Amesbury, MA and Robert was proud of all of them.
His hobbies included searching genealogy, hiking in the White Mountains, photography, cross country skiing and HO
scale model trains. Many trips were also made traveling out west.
He is predeceased by his parents Marion and George, his sister Elleanor Congdon and brother George Murray, Jr.
Robert leaves behind his wife Florence, three sons; Robert, Jr., Kevin and his wife Michelle, Timothy and his wife Janice, six
grandchildren; Adam, Rachel and her husband Brandyn, Ashley, Ryan, Lydia and Cecilia. He also leaves behind his
sister-in-law Lynda Chamberlain and two half-brothers Donald and Fredrick.
