Robert Freeman Quirk, age 84, of Fitchburg, formerly of Needham and Saugus died on Friday, June 7, 20013 at Nashoba Valley Medical Center of chronic illnesses. He was born August 21, 1928 in Lynn, MA, to Ralph Quirk (deceased) and Blanche Fitzpatrick Quirk (deceased). He is survived by wife Eleanor Doane Quirk; son Ralph and his wife Nancy Post Quirk of Lewisville, TX, son Brian Quirk and his wife Jeanette Lagasca Quirk of Leominster, MA; grandchildren Shawn and Meghan of Lewisville, TX; grandsons Brian, Jr., Nicholas, and Bryce Quirk of Leominster, MA; and great-granddaughter Kaylee Quirk. Bob was predeceased by brother Kenneth, sister Janet, former wife Joan Lassell Quirk, and son Michael. He was a graduate of Saugus High School in 1946, Northeastern University with a B. S. in Chemical Engineering in 1954, and an M. S. in Chemistry in 1959. His employment included Xerox, IBM, Harvard University, and Raytheon. He was a veteran of WW II, U. S. Army, Sgt., 82nd Airborne Division, 505th Airborne Infantry Regiment. Memorial Service will beon Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 11:00 A. M.at Christ Church Episcopal, 569 Main Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420, followed by a reception in Guild Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Kidney Society of America (www.kidneyfund.org/give-now/), the American Lung Association (www.lung.org/donate/), or Christ Church Episcopal, 569 Main Street, Fitchburg, MA.
