Robert Schmitt, Jr., 58,of Nottingham, NH, passed away suddenly from cardiac arrest while skiing at Sunday River, in Bethel, ME on January 10, 2015. Bob was born on July 27th 1956 in Needham, Ma, son of the late Robert J. Schmitt, Sr. and Beverly (Brown) Schmitt of Nashua, NH.
He was the beloved husband of Celeste (Labrie) Schmitt to whom he was married for 36 years. Bob graduated from Nashua High School class of 1975 and Lowell University class of 1979 with a BS in mechanical engineering. He was employed at Osram-Sylvania as a lighting engineer for many years and became a certified lighting consultant. After obtaining numerous US patents, he branched out to form his own company- Connect2Led (a Green Innovated Solutions Company). This venture took him all over the globe which led to many friendships and he will be greatly missed by all.
He was a member of the PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America). Bob was an instructor at Loon Mt. for the past 10 seasons. He loved sharing his passion for the sport with everyone. He could always be heard in the locker room sharing his ski stories or laughs with his wife, son & fellow co-workers. Bob also earned his Black belt in Taekwondo & was a member of the ATA Taekwondo Assoc.
Living on the lake, he enjoyed all water sports and loved giving his family and friends a ride on his pontoon boat , Jet Ski, and teaching people to water ski. Another one of his favorite pastimes was to attend concerts with family and friends especially those of his favorite artist "The Boss". His love for music would always find its' way into any event he attended or was invited to.
He is predeceased by his daughters- Tanya and Diana and his sons- Marcus and Jesse. Besides his loving wife, Celeste, Bob is survived by his son Timothy Schmitt of Nottingham, NH, his brothers, Brad and wife, Monique Schmitt of Bedford, NH, Brian and wife, Tricia Schmitt of Manchester, NH and sister, Beth Ann and husband Michael Brown of Newburyport, MA. He is also survived by his mother-in law Theresa Labrie, sisters and brothers in- laws, Jackie (Walter) Buchan, Adrien Jr.( Dickie) Labrie, Norman(Susan) Labrie, Gisele( Donald) Forcier, Denise Desrosiers, Gloria( Bob) Jenkins, Lydia(Bob)Belanger, Anna( Mark) Nickles, Patty(Mick) Mickelson, Marie Leonard, Angela(Jeff)Bush, Laura Labrie. His Uncles and Aunts, Bill and Betty Schmitt of Trenton MI, Beverly Schmitt of Riverview, MI., June Hatley of Wyandotte, Mi. and numerous cousins and over 40 nieces and nephews.
