Robert R. St. Hilaire, 82, of Nashua, passed away on Sunday, July 17, at the Community Hospice House, Merrimack, with his devoted grandson, Justin, and loving dog, Sandy, by his side.
Born in Berlin, NH, he was the son of the late Emile and Marie Anna (Nadeau) St. Hilaire.
A retired veteran, Robert proudly served his country as a Master Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 to 1971. He served in the 3rd Marine Division during the Vietnam War and the 1st Marine Division during the Korean Conflict. Robert was a member of the Cryptological Association and operated as a code breaker. Following his military career, Robert worked as a military consultant at BAE, formerly Sanders.
A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Robert's family was paramount in his life. Robert loved preparing delicious meals for family and friends, especially for the holidays. Taking great pride in his home, he enjoyed making home repairs and working in the shed. Robert will be best remembered for his generous heart and dedication to family.
Robert is survived by his wife, Nancy (Griffith) St. Hilaire; his daughter, Linda Aubin & husband Gary of Merrimack, NH; two sons, George Kent & wife Cathy of Ponce Inlet, FL and John St. Hilaire & wife Jill of Milford, NH; nine grandchildren, Justin Burton, Melissa Aubin, Stephanie Aubin, George Kent, Jr., Amanda Kent, Jeremy Sloane, Chris Sloane, Jarrett St. Hilaire, and Megan St. Hilaire; four great grandchildren, Finely, Jackson, Madelyn, and Delaney; two sisters-in-laws, Gertrude St. Hilaire and Leona St. Hilaire; several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by five siblings, Maurice St. Hilaire, Jean Paul St. Hilaire, Henry St. Hilaire, Yvette Ouellette, and Cecile St. Hilaire.
ARRANGEMENTS: His Memorial Service will be held at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover St., Manchester on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 10:00A.M. followed by his Committal Service with full Military Honors at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen, NH at 12:00P.M. Friends and relatives invited.
