Robert E. Stone Jr. Robert Stone, 78 of Hollis, NH formerly of Sudbury MA and Centerville MA died peacefully on September 24, 2007 at his home in Hollis NH, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Jean (Tewksbury) Stone and the son of the late Robert and the late Lorretta (Nelson) Stone of Waltham MA. He was born in Washington DC on March 28, 1929. A 1947 graduate of Waltham High School, he enjoyed attending the 60th class reunion the week before his death. He attended the Huntington School in Boston and received an Associates Degree from Northeastern University. He raised a family of four children in Sudbury MA where he lived for 35 years. He retired in 1991 from Raytheon where he was an electronic engineer for 35 years. Bob and his wife Jean moved to Hollis NH four years ago to be closer to their children and their 10 grandchildren. He also loved spending time with his family at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe VT. Bob was a veteran and served in the Air Force from 1952-1955. During his enlistment he flew boxcar transportation planes in Europe and in the Middle East. Bob was proud of his Air Force service and was always eager to share his stories of his escapades as a pilot. From 1970 to 1976 Bob was a Boy Scout leader and was proud during that time to have hiked the entire Long Trail in Vermont. Bob had many interests and as a result many friends. He enjoyed stamp collecting and genealogy. He was the founder of the Mystic Knights of the Shining Rail Model Railroad Club and a member of the Carriage Travel Club. In 1965 he joined the Sudbury Minute and Militia Company and remained an active member until his death. Many will remember Bob with his Jean as the front door greeters dressed in colonial costume at the Wayside Inn, something they enjoyed for over 27 years he always had warm welcome for all. In addition to his wife who would have celebrated their 54th anniversary on Oct 17, his high school sweetheart, he is survived by three daughters, Judy and her husband Chris Shaw of South Burlington, VT; Linda and her husband Brad Neuenhaus of Boxford, MA; Pam and her husband Matt McCoy of Woodstock, GA; one son Robert Stone and his wife Lorraine (Stigle) of Carlisle, MA; and his 10 grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his siblings, Bill Stone, of Marlboro, MA, Ginny (Stone) Dahlin of Sterling, MA and Ted Stone of St. Petersburg, FL. Friends are welcome to join the family at a service to celebrate his life at 11:00 AM on Monday October 1, at the Martha-Mary Chapel at the Wayside Inn, Sudbury MA.
