Robert R. Whittum, 74, of Dover died February 26, 2004 at Dover Rehabilitation following a period of declining health. Mr. Whittum was born on January 25, 1930 in Quincy, MA, the son of the late Raymond and Phyliss (Patten) Whittum. He was a US Army Veteran who served in the Korean War receiving the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and two Bronze Service Medals. Bob was a manufacturer's representative for several sporting goods stores, Coleman Company and Ted Williams Fishing Tackle Company. He was a member of the Dover Elks Lodge, VFW in Dover and a volunteer at the Dover Food Pantry. Family members include; his wife of 51 years, Emily (Silipo) Whittum; two sons, Raymond J. Whittum and Robert R. Whittum both of Wasilla, Alaska; one daughter, Nancy Gove of Lyman, ME; 11 grandchildren; one great grandson; one sister, Louise Bearce and her husband, James of Sharon, MA; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Carolyn Develis. Services will be private. Burial will take place at a later date at the Veterans National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements.
