Roger M. Bergeron

Roger M. Bergeron, age 76, passed away suddenly at home in Boscawen on Saturday, November 18, 2017.

Roger spent 23 years in the Air Force, retiring as master sergeant. He earned master instructor certification as mission controller earning a bronze star, and Air Force commendation medal in addition to many others. He had many and various experiences including meeting his wife while in Alabama, working all night in a shaking airplane hangar after the 1964 Alaska earthquake, maintaining hourly wind chill records in North Dakota, a tour in Saigon during the Vietnam war, and participating in a Japanese archery team.

After settling in NH he became very active in music. He taught guitar lessons at Strings and Things Music for 25 years and for 20 years was an original member of Freeze Brothers Big Band. He hoped many of his former students would continue to enjoy music for a lifetime.

He was born in Willimantic, CT to the late Maurice and Irene (Jean) Bergeron. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rhoda Earldeane (Anderson) Bergeron of the home; sons, Roger II and Eric; daughter, Holly; grandchildren, Gorden Bergeron and Jessica Tran; brothers, Leo of Willington, CT and Mark of Morris, NY; sister-in-law, Beverly Bergeron of NC; and brother-in-law, Franklin Anderson of TX.

Roger's wish was to be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 27th at 11:00am at the Cremation Society of NH, 172 King Street in Boscawen. Inurnment with military honors will follow immediately at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Boscawen Food Pantry at Boscawen Congregational Church, 12 High Street, Boscawen, NH 03303.
