Roger E. Chagnon, 77, died on June 21, 2002 in New Hampshire Veterans Home, Tilton, NH after a 16 year struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born in Salem, MA on February 11, 1925, the son of Magloire L. and Alice (Fugere) Chagnon. He lived in Salem, MA until moving to Antrim, NH in 1999. Mr. Chagnon was educated in Salem Schools. During World War II he served in the U. S. Army in Europe. He worked at Hytron Corp., Draper Labs at Harvard University, Dynatrol Corp. and A. C. Electronics where he worked on Inertial Guidance Systems for Apollo 7. Before retiring Mr. Chagnon owned and operated, with his son Tom, Patriot Television Service. He was an Amateur Radio Operator (W1QLB) for 55 years, a member of the Pocahontas Radio Club and The American Legion Post 59 in Hillsborough, NH. Family members include his wife, Mary (Maxwell) Chagnon, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage, son Thomas R. Chagnon of Bow, NH, daughters Ellen M. Chagnon of Upton, MA and Karen A. Chagnon of Falmouth, ME, his sister Doris (Chagnon) Murphy of Leominster, MA. five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Paul L. Chagnon. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Hillsborough United Methodist Church, Henniker Street, Hillsborough. Burial will be at Henniker New Cemetery in Henniker, NH. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Roger E.
