Born on November 24, 1943, in Manhattan, NY, Roger was the oldest of four children of Roland and Irene Geilen. In 1961, he joined the United States Army where he served nine years and was stationed in Pittsburgh, PA, El Paso, TX and Naha, Okinawa. He was honorably discharged in 1970 and pursued a career in engineering and software sales.

Roger was passionate about boating, fishing, and golfing. He loved hosting family gatherings with BBQs and bonfires. His lifelong dream of flying in a P-51 Mustang was fulfilled in August 2023, compliments of his youngest brother, Rod. It was an experience Roger described as " a ride of a lifetime." His adventurous and curious spirit was contagious to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
