Mr. Roland L. Rene, 85, of Nashua, NH died February 27, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua with his family at his side.

He was born on June 20, 1923 in Manchester, NH the son of Ludger and Amanda (Chavanelle) Rene. He was educated in the Manchester school system attending St. Joseph School for boys.

He worked as a bailiff for the Federal Court in Concord for many years.

Mr. Rene served in the US Army during World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery and the Purple Heart.

In his younger years, he played baseball. He was in the Conservation Corp at Mount Washington. In his later years, Roland enjoyed bowling and dancing. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Edna (LeClair) Rene of Nashua; 2 daughters, Gail Rene of Manchester and Diane Rene of Manchester; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 step daughters, 5 step grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Rolande (St. Hilaire) Rene who died April 17, 1987.

His Memorial Gathering will be held at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St, Manchester on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with his Memorial Service to follow at 11:00AM. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Manchester at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in Roland name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1 Bedford Farms Drive, Suite 105, Bedford, NH 03110. Phaneuf Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
