Roland E. Vallee, 87, of Bedford, died after a courageous fight with Alzheimerâs disease on April 10, 2011 at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton. He was the widower of Pauline (Lemay) Vallee who died in 2008.
He was born on May 7, 1923 in Newburyport, MA, the son of the late Norbert and Clarina (Gagne) Vallee. He received an Honorable Discharge from the US Navy, having served during WWII. He was on the USS Palmer and the USS Dorsey. While on the USS Palmer, he used his fluency in French to work on translations.
Roland was a Pressman and ran the Chambers Printing Service in Manchester for almost 20 years before retiring. He was active in local politics; he also enjoyed playing horseshoesâ and cribbage. He was a member of the Pinardville Athletic Club and served on the board in many capacities.
IN HIS LIFE:
He is survived by three sons; Eugene Vallee of Utah, Philip Vallee and his wife Linda of Milo, ME, Marc Vallee of Bedford; a daughter Patricia Ballard and her husband Robert of Manchester; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; a sister Helene Bruno of Dunbarton, NH and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Richard Vallee in 1993.
SERVICES:
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 from 2:00 â 4:00 and 5:00 â 7:00 pm at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 2:00pm in the Cremation Society Chapel.
