Ronald R. Schurter, 57, of Raymond died January 18, 2003 at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston following a lengthy struggle with leukemia. Dr. Schurter was born on October 29, 1945 in Bangor, Maine. He was the son of the late Colonel Orie O. Schurter and Martha M. (Priboth) Schurter. He was a US Air Force Veteran who served during the Vietnam Era. He was a doctor of Veterinary Medicine which he practiced for 25 years. He was also a graduate student at the University of New Hampshire where he was pursuing a masters' degree in geology. Dr. Schurter enjoyed gardening, hiking and spending time with his family. Family members include: his wife of 5 years, Samantha (Carlisle) Schurter; one daughter, Mrs. Ronie Sparkman and her husband, Worth of Fayetteville, Arkansas; his mother of Katy, Texas; one brother, Dennis Schurter of Denton, Texas; one sister, Orene Fanyo of Katy, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. There will be a memorial reception on Wednesday, January 22nd from 1:00 until 2:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 2:00 at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire Chapel, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester. The family requests donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the Dana-Farber Cancer Center in Boston.
