Roy E. DeMond, 66, of 49 Karlene Street, Newport died on February 4, 2001 at his home surrounded by family and friends after a lengthy illness. Mr. DeMond was born on October 22, 1934 in Acworth, NH the son of the late Curtis and Mae (Staples) DeMond. He was a US Army Veteran who served during the Korean War. Mr. DeMond was a supervisor for Dorr Woolen Mill in Newport for 17 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Brewster Gould Lee Post in Newport. Family members include his wife of 35 years, Sara (Newton) DeMond; two sons, Keith DeMond and Eric DeMond both of Newport; two daughters, Tracey Rouillard of Claremont and Robin Locke of Brentwood; five grandchildren; four brothers, Allen DeMond of Keene, Frederick DeMond of Marlow, Byron DeMond of Windsor, VT and Lee DeMond of Marlow; three sisters, Millie Kimiec of Nelson, Phyllis Novack of Mt. Holly, VT and Jewel Lufkin of Charlestown. He was predeceased by three brothers, Charles DeMond, Robert DeMond and Clifford DeMond. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, February 10th at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church, 11 Park Street, Newport.
