Roy T. Rigsby 83, a resident of Nashua, N.H., passed away on February 2,2020 with family by his side.
Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma he was the son of the late Robert and Hazel Kimery Rigsby. Roy is predeceased by his parents, his wife Elaine, and his brother Wesley.
Roy grew up and worked on a farm in Oklahoma which he loved to talk about to whomever would listen. He graduated from Moore High School (from which he finally received his diploma on Jan 30, 2020 in a special ceremony held at the Community Hospice House with family and friends in attendance).
Roy served Honorably in the United States Army for 8 years as a Cryptologist. After the Army he worked for many years as a truck driver for several companies. He was also a school bus driver which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Roy married the love of his life, Elaine Vaillancourt on April 19, 1958. Together they raised four children in Westford Ma. He loved fishing, playing cards, country music and puzzles, and truly enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends. He loved spending summers at Hampton Beach, Cape Cod and Wells Beach with his family. Roy was a storyteller by heart, and could talk for hours! He spent his last two years in the loving care of his daughter Cindy and son in law Mike.
Roy is survived by his four children, Michael, Cindy and her husband Mike Bozek, Kevin and his wife Rose, and Tim. Grandchildren, April, Melissa, Bill and his wife Taylor, Michael, Kevin II, Taylor and Camden, and two great granddaughters, Maddie and Taliah. Also his sisters Diane, Mary, Susan, brother Ronnie , and his favorite Aunt Betty Jean.
Family and friends are invited to gather Monday, February 10, 2020 at 12:30-1:30pm at The Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 172 King St. Boscawen N.H. Memorial service will begin at 1:30 in the funeral home chapel, followed immediately by interment with military honors at the N.H. State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Roy's memory to Community Hospice House (hhhc.org), Alzheimers Foundation (alzfdn.org) or The American Cancer Society (cancer.org).
