Roy Shoults

Roy Shoults, 90, of Manchester NH, passed away comfortably after a brief illness on July 5, 2022.



Roy was born on July 7, 1931 in New York City, to parents Roy Shoults and Anna Katashuck. He is survived by two sons, Peter Shoults of Chester, N.H., and Roy Shoults of Manchester, N.H., eight grandchildren, Dana, Ben, Jackson, Rebecca, Keaton, Abby, Sarah and Sam, one great-grandchild Grace Nohelty, and cousin Marcella Stapor of Princeton, N.J. He was affectionately known by his grandchildren as "GD"



Roy served in the Army during the Korean War as a Troop Information & Education Specialist in the Iron Triangle Area. He attended the University of Virginia, graduating with honors and was admitted into Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He recieved his graduate degree in clinical social work from Syracuse University. He worked as a clinical social worker for many years and founded Albatross Antiques Inc.



Roy was elected to the Manchester School Board Committee in 2011 and served as a board member of New Hampshire Center for Constitutional Studies. He volunteered his time with the Granite State Opera and New Hampshire Symphony, bringing opera and classical music to youth in the area.



Roy was an avid New York Giants fan and also enjoyed photography, history, politics and cooking. He will be fondly remembered by family members for his holiday cards with personally drawn cartoons mimicking his great sense of humor.



Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Monday, July 25th, from 10-11:30 a.m., with a memorial service from 11:30 to  noon at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street., Manchester, N.H. Burial will follow at 1:30 pm at NH State Veterans Cemetery at 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen NH.



In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
