Royce Day Kelley, 97, died on October 31, 2002 in Bradford, NH at the home of his son Brian. He was the son of Irena Kelley and the adopted son of Mary Walker Kelley and Olin Joseph Kelley. He was the widower of Virginia (Simonds) Kelley. Mr. Kelley attended schools in Franklin, NH and was an active member of the Methodist Church Sunday School. He attended Franklin High School and graduated from the General Electric Apprentice Course in Lynn, Mass. He worked at the West Lynn GE plant for 33 years when he retired to take a position at the Adams Pond BSA Camp in Barnstead. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America from 1924 until 1975 and was the Scout Master of the largest Scout troop of Lynn, Mass. He joined the Ezekial Webster Grange in 1933 and was a life member of the Grange. He served in the Essex County Pomona Grange going through the chairs and was a Past Master. He was a life member of the Glenmere IOOF Lodge of Lynn and was a Past Noble Grand. He was Past Chief Patriach of Lynn Encampment and Past Captain of Lynn Canton. He was a life member of Consistory of Masons. He was a member of the DeKoven Glee Club of the GE in Lynn and a member of the Vocaliers Glee Club of Lynn. He lived in West Boxford, Mass for twenty years where he was active in the Grange, the Boy Scouts and the 2nd Congregational Church where he was a Deacon and an advisor to the Pilgrim Fellowship youth group. He was a Past Master of the West Boxford Grange. He moved to Barnstead in 1959 and lived on Province Road in the oldest standing house in Barnstead which was built by the Rev. Joseph Adams, a cousin of President John Quincy Adams. He was president of the Mutual Aid of the Barnstead Fire Department. He was the first president of the Night Hawk Hollow Senior Citizen's group. He was a member of the RSVP. He was Past Noble Grand of the Suncook Lodge IOOF # 10 of Pittsfield. He lived in Salem, NH with his daughter, Charlotte Goossens, where he was a member of the Salem Senior Singers and joined the cribbage club at the Senior Center. He is survived by his sons and their wives, David and Patricia of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Herbert and Patricia of Barnstead, Brian and Kathleen of Bradford and daughter, Mrs. Charlotte (Robert) Goossens of Salem; seventeen grandchildren, forty three great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Pittsfield at 11:30 am, November 9. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the charity of your choice. Interment will be at Franklin Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
