Rudolf A. Lotter, 77 of Bedford died September 10, 2015 at Community Hospice in Merrimack. He was born of German immigrants and raised in Hudson, New York. He lost both parents at an early age. Later he joined the Air Force, serving 14 years as an Air Traffic Controller. He was a Korean War Veteran. He later joined the FAA and worked 11 years at Boston Center Area in Nashua. After the strike of 1981, he was hired by the Australian Government as an instructor in air traffic control. When he returned to the United States he worked for government engineering sub-contractors. In 2000, after his retirement to his farm in New Sweden, Maine, he enjoyed cutting hay for local farmers while a "jolly ride" on his Allis Charmer also re-building a large barn. Rudy loved his family and appreciated a quiet life. A passion for reading he walked through the fields and woods on the farm in Maine and listen to the stillness of nature in the company of his three English Mastiffs.
Family members in his wife of 36 years Carole (Spooner) Lotter, a daughter from a previous marriage, Lorie Hill and husband Andy, a grandson Ryan Lovett. His beloved sisters Helma (Sister Mary, Carmelite of Oklahoma) and Mona (Sister Monica, also Carmelite of Oklahoma) who is deceased. A sister-in-law Jocelyne Barnett (Leigh) a brother-in-law Claude Spooner (Mariette) Sister-in-law Danielle Spooner and many nieces and cousins throughout the United States and Germany.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Rudy at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Road, Bedford, NH on Monday, October 5th at 7:30 AM. An Anniversary Mass for Rudy will be held on Sunday, February 14th 2016 at 9:00 AM. A graveside service in Hudson, New York will be announced at a later date.
