Rui "Judy" Thompson of Danville, NH died February 5, 2016 at Mass General Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Tokyo, Japan and immigrated to the United States in 1954, the bride of Robert Thompson. She attained US citizenship in 1958. A homemaker and adept mother of 5, she also held various jobs throughout the years, including as a seamstress at Samuel Roberts in Haverhill, MA and a stitcher for Nike in Exeter and Raymond, NH.
Rui was an accomplished seamstress, both professionally and personally. She enjoyed sewing clothes and leatherwear for herself and her family, and designed and made the gowns for several weddings, proms, and other special occasions of her family and friends. She also loved to cook and bake for all her family and friends. In addition to her considerable domestic skills, Rui loved the outdoors, camping and exploring everything from the mountains to the beaches and islands of New England and Canada. She was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots, and, inexplicably, the Miami Dolphins.
She is survived by her husband Robert, sister Mieko Suzuki of Japan, son Joseph and his wife Andrea, son Robert Jr. and his wife Cheryl, sons John and William, daughter Kathryn and her husband Brandan Simpson, grandchildren Tracey and her husband Micah Adams, Connor and Shaun Simpson, Ashley and Joseph Thompson, and 2 great-grandchildren Zoe and Sadie Adams.
