Manchester- Russell Croteau, 62, of Manchester, NH devoted husband of Diane (Paquette) Croteau, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014, in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his family following a ten month struggle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Lawrence, MA, he was the son of the late Eugene A. and Claire Eunice Croteau. Raised and educated in Lawrence, Russ graduated from Greater Lawrence Technical School, Class of 1969.
An honorably discharged veteran, Russ proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a dedicated member of the American Legion, Post 48 of Hudson for 37 years.
A loyal husband and father, Russ was the pillar of strength for his family. He enjoyed camping, hunting and spending time with his family playing board games. In his spare time, Russ loved to travel with Diane to his favorite place, York Beach. A beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his loving wife, Diane, with who he shared 37 years of joyful marriage, Russ is survived by; his daughter, Wendy Bergin & husband, Pat of New Boston; his son, Lachlan Croteau of Lowell, MA; his doting cat, Luke; his 5 siblings, Donald & Lek Croteau, Patricia & Robert Beaulieu, Neil & Diane Croteau, Marie Croteau, and Skip & Marie Croteau; his mother & father-in-law, Gerard and Doris Paquette; his siblings-in-law, Connie & Gary Webster, Ken & Lara Paquette, Marie & Blake Miller, and Steve & Robin Paquette; and extended family and friends . Russell was predeceased by his brother, Jay Croteau.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Memorial Service will be in the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover St., Manchester, on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 2:00P.M. A celebration of life gathering will follow at the Puritan Backroom in Manchester, NH from 3pm-6pm. Friends and relatives invited. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Russell's memory to Home Health & Hospice Care at 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054.
