Russell W. Mayhew, 86, of Marshfield, VT, passed away on November 22, 2025. He was born on December 12, 1938, in Goffstown, NH, the son of Waldo R. Mayhew and Mary Whittier Mayhew.

Russell was the devoted husband of Waneta A. Mayhew. The two were married on April 23, 1988, in Townsend, MA, and shared many wonderful years together.

He attended Milford High School and proudly served in the United States Army. Following his service, he worked for Hitchiner Manufacturing in Milford, NH, for 18 years.

Russell was a longtime member of both the American Legion and the Elks Club. He enjoyed gardening, listening to Willie’s Roadhouse, playing cards and watching NASCAR. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Waldo R. Mayhew and Mary Whittier Mayhew; his brother, Charles F. Mayhew; and his sister, Phyllis Mayhew.

Russell is survived by his wife, Waneta Mayhew; his six stepchildren: Linda Fowler of Barre, VT; Clinton Holt and his partner Robin Gomez of Marshfield, VT; Donald Holt and his wife Amanda of Goffstown, NH; Wanda Berte and her partner Michael Senecal of Plainfield, VT; William Holt and his wife Kathy of New Boston, NH; and Jacqueline Bayrd of Manchester, NH.

He was blessed with 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Pauline Drew and her husband Ernie Drew of Newburg, OR, as well as his estranged daughter, Maryanne Thompkins of Portland, OR, and her three children.

A special thank-you goes to his grandchildren, Amelia Parker and John Bayrd, for helping care for him when he could no longer do so himself.

Services and burial will be held privately at a later date at Eaton Cemetery, Marshfield VT.
