Russell Raymond Stoessel, 76, of Derry, New Hampshire, passed away on June 3, 2026, at Parkland Medical Center. Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on October 9, 1949, he was the son of the late John and Evelyn (Skea) Stoessel.
Russell was raised in Lawrence and later made his home in Methuen, where he raised his family and lived for many years. He worked as a laborer throughout his career and was a proud member of Laborers' Union Local 175 for 55 years.
Russell loved the ocean and enjoyed fishing in Newburyport, watching birds, and visiting Nash Casino. He appreciated life's simple pleasures and cherished spending time with those he loved most. Family was the center of his world, and he was a devoted and beloved Papa to his grandchildren. He was especially grateful to spend his final years living with his daughter, surrounded by family and his cherished grand dogs, who held a special place in his heart.
Russell is survived by his daughter, Karen Isabelle; his son, Kristopher Stoessel and his wife, Maurine; his sister, Sharon Mell; his grandchildren, Justin Isabelle and his partner, Jackie; Joseph Isabelle and his partner, Dara; Juliann Isabelle-Lanzillo and her husband, Corey; and Krisjana Stoessel, Kristopher Stoessel Jr., and Kian Stoessel. He is also survived by his great-granddaughter, Senna Lanzillo; his former wife and longtime friend, Rita Stoessel and her partner, Haig Zeytoonian; his sister-in-law, Lori Stoessel; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Russell was predeceased by his brothers, Frank and Brian Stoessel; his longtime companion, Betsy Dennehy; and his brother-in-law, Artie Mell.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Gathering on Tuesday, June 9, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, New Hampshire.
