Ruth G. Snow, 93 of Webster died November 25, 2017 at Presidential Oaks in Concord NH.
She was born October 5, 1924 in Newport, Tennessee, the daughter of Isaac L. and Emma M. (Gentry) Sutton. She attended grade school and high school in Crabtree, NC. She worked in Asheville where she met her husband of 24 years, William M. Snow while he was stationed nearby in the Army Air Corp. She then worked at Oak Ridge, TN during the WWII war effort. Bill and Ruth moved to Webster, NH and had five children while working a chicken and vegetable farm. She was a member of the Warner Eastern Star and Webster Grange.
Ruth worked as a nurse technician/aid at the Austin Home in Webster, Concord Hospital, Wolfeboro Hospital, and Veteran Hospitals in West Roxbury, MA, Asheville, NC and Manchester, NH. She devoted much of her life to taking care of others during her career. Ruth loved her family and enjoyed treating them to outings. She also enjoyed flower gardening and reading as long as she was able.
After retiring from the Manchester VA Hospital she moved from Alton back to her childhood home in Crabtree, NC for 15 years and then spent her last years at her daughter's home in Webster.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Alberta Snow of Webster, her sons, Raymond Snow and his wife, Deborah of Canterbury; William E. Snow and his wife, Lois of Alton, Robert L. Snow and his wife, Maryellen of Barnstead and 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Isaac Sutton, Jr. and wife, Lorene of Clyde, NC as well as numerous nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her son, John Snow.
Services will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans Home in Tilton (NHVH Resident Benefit Fund), The Society for the Preservation of the Old Meeting House in Webster NH, or a charity of your choice. The Cremation Society of NH is assisting the family with arrangements. Their website is www.csnh.com.
