Ruth Ann Tetreault

Ruth Ann Tetreault age 79 of Barrington, NH, formally of Rochester, NH and Newburyport, MA, passed away peacefully, after a long illness. She was surrounded by family at the home of her daughter and son-in-law William and Laura-Ann Ruppelt's home in Manchester, NH. Ruth breathed her last breath and rested on Sept 16th, 2020. She was born in Rochester, NH to the Late Anna Mae (Perry) Couture, Fowler and was raised by the late William Fowler of Rochester, NH and Newburyport, MA. Later in life, after her mother passed, she met and bonded with her (now deceased) biological father, Lloyd Couture, of Rochester, NH and discovered another family of siblings to love.
Ruth was preceded by her late partner, Arthur Mears of Barrington, NH, her three brothers, Richard, Kenny, and Lloyd "Butch" Couture, and also by her 20 year old grandson, Timothy Adam Ruppelt.
Ruth leaves behind a sister Lois Worster, her devoted brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Jeannie Couture. Her four children, Debra Alexander of Dunedin, FL, Robert "Bob" Ferris of Tucson, AZ, Laura-Ann Ruppelt of Manchester, NH and Sherry Beaudoin of Rochester, NH. She also leaves her 10 grandchildren: Rollins, Bob, Jason, Jessica, Justin, Adam, Thomas, Joy, Ben, Eric. And her 11 Great grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Trinity, Lucas, Olivia, Ariez, Anastasia, Elizabeth, Meran, Joie', James Adam, and Alyce. She leaves a loved cousin Beverly and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was a lifelong learner, and a hard worker. She graduated from Lebaron's Hairdressing School 07/29/76, and then went on to earn her Geriatric Nursing Assistant Certificate 05/10/78 From Cushman Management Assoc. Ruth was married very young and had a family, so her proudest achievement was earning her G.E.D. later in life at age 52. She proved that it's never too late to realize a dream of earning her High School diploma! Ruth also worked the front security desk for Dr. Land (of Polaroid) at the Land Institute in Boston, MA. She worked in electronic assembly at Cabletron (NH) as an inspector; she later advanced to trainer. She had the unique pleasure of working with her eldest daughter Debra, her daughter's husband, Ron, and their son (grandson) Rollins. Rollins (as her first grandchild) developed a special bond over their work and he remembers those days fondly. She also worked as an inspector at Park Plate in Dover, NH where she met her longtime friend Pam McAffrey of Somersworth, NH. Ruth had special neighbors of 20 years who treated her as their own mother, and literally sheltered her during winter storms. They were a blessing to each other.
Ruth tenacious spirit and work ethic was shown when she developed stage three ovarian Cancer. After surgery and treatment, she returned to work, after her 69th birthday! She worked for "National Able" (an over 55 employment program). She was installed, as a volunteer at the Goodwin Medical Clinic in Somersworth, NH, at the front reception desk yet she advanced to being the aid to the medical director. While serving there for three years, she won the "most efficient volunteer of the year" award, all three years! She retired at age 75, satisfied!
Ruth's ashes will be laid to rest at her mother's gravesite in the Oak Hill Cemetery, in Newburyport, MA on Saturday, Sept 26th at 2 PM. It will be near the State Street entrance. Afterward a small gathering will meet in the back yard of Ruth's former home in Barrington, NH to remember and celebrate this spirited woman.
