Sally Jean (Pickett) Cadman

Sally Cadman, age 57, of Hollis, NH, died peacefully Saturday, May 21, 2016, following a courageous battle with cancer. Sally leaves a husband, Harold Cadman, son Christopher (age 16), beloved nephew Ben Bivins (Chicago), sister Joan Pickett and brother in-law Adane Dessie (Cambridge,MA and NYC), brother-in-law, David Cadman (Braintree, MA), mother-in-law, Margaret Cadman (York, ME) and many lifelong friends.
Sally, the daughter of James F. Pickett and Addie W. Pickett, (both deceased), was born October 31, 1958, and spent her early years in Dover, NH, graduating from Dover High School. She attended Boston College School of Nursing receiving her BSN degree in 1980 followed by a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) masters degree from Boston University in 1985. A lifelong learner, she completed her Doctoral of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Holistic Nursing in 2011. Sally practiced at several Boston hospitals but devoted the most time – almost 27 years – to Boston Medical Center (and Boston University prior to the merger). Ten of those years were spent in the emergency department while commuting through the Big Dig project from Essex, MA, which she declared as a personal victory. She was a critical care clinical nurse specialist at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA, immediately prior to joining the nursing faculty at Regis College as an Associate Professor and Graduate Student Program Director, Clinical Nurse Specialist. At Regis for 8 years, she found her next passion – teaching. She was a strong role model and deeply engaged in sharing her knowledge, helping to guide the next generation of nursing leaders.
While Sally had an accomplished professional life, she was a source of personal inspiration to her family and friends with her positive life attitude, her courage in the face of several health challenges and her determination. She adored and was a devoted mother to her son Christopher, sharing her love of nature, sports, and Lake Winnipesaukee where he learned to swim and sail. She had full and varied life experiences including participating as captain of cheer leading at Dover High School, Boston College and briefly with the NE Patriots cheering squad. She was crowned Miss Lake Winnipesaukee and was the 1978 first runner up in the Miss New Hampshire pageant. She was an avid equestrian who owned two horses and participated in hunter jumping and dressage, a reiki master, and proud owner of several Jack Russell Terriers.
To honor Sally's life, a memorial service will be held 1:30 PM, Monday, May 30, 2016, at the Congregational Church of Hollis, 3 Monument Square, Hollis, NH. At Sally's request, there will be no visiting hours, but we invite you to honor her life at the memorial service.
