Sally Louise Welch passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH.

Born in Methuen, MA on December 24, 1936, she was the daughter of Helen and Milton Downs. Sally grew up in Salem, NH and graduated from Woodbury High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and Drama Club.

She went on to become a teacher of English and Science – first teaching in a two-room schoolhouse in Grantham, NH. She also taught for two years at St. Marie’s High School in Manchester and finally finishing out her career at Manchester West High School where she taught for about 35 years.

Sally loved teaching and traveling throughout New England during her retirement years, where she often met many of her former students.

When her husband passed away in 2001, she was determined to live on her terms, and she remained fiercely independent for more than 21 years.

Sally is predeceased by her parents, her first husband, Thomas Huskie of Lady Lake, FL and her second husband, Thomas Welch of Manchester.

She is survived by her daughter, Jill Huskie and her husband Bill Marcotte of Manchester, her grandson, Cody Marcotte of Weare, her twin sister, Carol McNally of North Andover, MA, a brother, John Downs of Epping, NH and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate and honor her life by gathering on Friday, October 8th from 2-4pm at The Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester. A memorial service will follow at 4pm in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester.
