Samuel C. Baker

Samuel C. Baker, 65, of North Water Street died Friday, March 30, 2007, at home, surrounded by family after fighting a long illness.

Samuel was born in Fulton, N.Y., on February 28, 1942, to Leighton and Dorothy (Laflamme) Baker. He worked as a meat cutter for 30 years for Victory Supermarket. He was a medic in the Army.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Shirley; children Cynthia Borges and her husband, Robert, of Boscawen, Samuel C. Baker Jr. and his wife, Paula, of Kentucky, Clinton Baker of Boscawen, Paul Baker and his wife, Rachel, of Kentucky, Timothy Baker of Boscawen, Michelle Dow and her husband, Jason, of Boscawen, and Anthony Baker of Concord; sisters Ella Shatraw of New York and Kay Carbone of Massachusetts; brothers Cliff of Nevada, Charlie of Massachusetts, John of New Hampshire, and Roy, Bob and Jerry, all of New York.

He was a wonderful grandfather to 18 grandchildren and had numerous nephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by a son, David Baker, in 2000; and siblings, Ralph Leighton Jr., Ada Sevign, Helen Reidy and Mary Smith.

He was a devoted husband and father who gave and did everything for his family. He enjoyed riding his lawn mower with his grandchildren, buying new cards, playing cards and vacationing with his family; and loved Dunkin' Donuts, country music and his Harley-Davidson. He had a carefree spirit. He was always there for others, was loved and admired greatly by his family and gave freely of everything he had. His laughter and sense of humor will be missed greatly by all who knew him, especially his family.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, April 3rd from 6 to 8 p.m. at his home on North Water Street in Boscawen.

Services will be held privately at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire in Manchester.
