Samuel W. Blackford, 77, of Concord died Saturday, June 16, 2001 at Concord Hospital. Mr. Blackford was born in Christopher, Illinois; one of two sons born to W. J. and Lurlene (Winfield) Blackford. He was raised in Paducah, Kentucky. Mr. Blackford was an electrical engineer and was employed by Scott Paper Company for 25 years. He served in the 379th bomber group of the Army Air Corp. in Kimbolton, England and was awarded the distinguished flying cross. He was also awarded the Silver Beaver Award for distinguished service to boyhood by the Boy Scouts of America. Family members include; his wife of 53 years, Mary (Wurth) Blackford; six children, Paul Blackford, Pam Harris, Christopher Blackford, Brad Blackford, Ken Blackford, and Sam Blackford; thirteen grandchildren; and his brother, Billy Joe Blackford of Paducah, Kentucky. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2001 at 1:30 PM at Immaculate Conception Church in Penacook, NH with urn burial to follow at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
