Samuel T. Rutherford

Samuel T. Rutherford, 93, of Manchester, died at his residence on August 31, 2004. He was born in Petroleum, WV on June 12, 1911, the son of Samuel and Margaret (Giffin) Rutherford. He graduated from Muskingum College and received his Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Pittsburg. He retired after being Director of several social service agencies and was active in social welfare organizations, including leadership in the National Association of Social Workers. Prior to moving to Manchester in 2003, Mr. Rutherford was a social worker and community leader in Memphis, TN. He was the widower of Maybeth (McRoberts) Rutherford. Family members include a son, Stephen Rutherford of Punta Gorda, FL; a daughter, Susan Tonnar of Manchester; four grandchildren and two grandchildren. After cremation, urn burial will take place in Memphis, TN at a later date. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements. For more information, go to www.csnh.com.
