Sandeep Malhotra

January 21, 1972 — April 10, 2023

Chelmsford, MA

Sandeep Malhotra, 51, passed away at his home in Chelmsford, Massachusetts on April 10, 2023. His demise was untimely and sudden. He lived a life filled with joy and left a powerful impression on everyone he met.

Sandeep was born in New Delhi, India on January 21, 1972, to the late Mr. Mulkh Raj Malhotra and Mrs. Kanta Malhotra. He grew up in New Delhi, India; Kabul, Afghanistan; and Jakarta, Indonesia in a close-knit family with his parents and an elder brother and sister, Deepak and Seenu. He found himself engrossed in sports; playing basketball, badminton and tennis, which helped him maintain a connection to himself while immersing in the local cultures, enabling him to forge ties on and off the court. He embodied the team spirit, and this radiated through his selflessness. Off the court, his intellectual curiosity, sparked by the emergence of Microsoft Word, grew exponentially as he immersed himself in technology. His passion for technology took him to the United States where he graduated with a master’s in science in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 1995, earning a first-class distinction for his exceptional academic achievements.

After graduating, Sandeep began his career with a team of people and, for 25 years the same team moved together, even as they changed workspaces. He will be deeply missed by his coworkers who remember him as a highly skilled and dedicated team member. His colleagues admired his intelligence, tireless work ethic and were inspired by his positive attitude and kindness.

Sandeep married Monisha on February 16, 1996. Their love grew beautifully through their 27 years of marriage. Sandeep's calm nature was perfectly balanced by Monisha, who always kept him on his toes with her spontaneity and everlasting energy - whether it be a spontaneous trip to Nova Scotia or a chai date at Boston Seaport. They shared a deep and enduring love, and their marriage was a testament to their devotion, commitment, and unwavering support for each other. In an iconic way - often remembered by his many family and friends, Monisha would lovingly call him “honey!” and he would refer to her as “sweetheart.”

Their relationship further blossomed when the couple was blessed with two adorable children, Sahil and Simran. It was his hardworking nature, his optimism, and humility that inspired their paths in life. His love and dedication was transmitted through his profession and to his children, who embody his great ambition to pursue their passions.

Sahil Malhotra, his eldest child, is a software engineer at The MITRE Corporation and currently resides in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Sahil will also soon be pursuing his Master’s in Business Administration and Masters of Science in Digital Technology at the Questrom School of Business in Boston University.

Simran Malhotra, his youngest child, is currently an undergraduate student at Northeastern University majoring in Biochemistry and Bioengineering.

His wife, Mrs. Monisha Malhotra, is Vice President, branch manager at Santander Bank and also currently resides in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.

Sandeep’s endearment towards his family was transmitted through his actions. Whether it was spending weekends together running errands with his wife, researching new technology with his son, taking his daughter on coffee dates, or video chatting with his mother in India. Sandeep would do each of these with great enthusiasm. He continues to give everyone around him strength every day.

Sandeep was a joyful human being who enjoyed adventure and spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed playing Ludo, Solitaire, Bejeweled, and Sudoku with his family and loved ones. He was an avid Purdue University and New England sports fan and actively followed their games, often hosting watch parties for friends and family. His Sundays would consist of cheering on his favorite teams while folding everyone’s laundry- often enforcing a superstitious method of cheering. He was an extremely loving husband, a caring father, a devoted son, and an involved friend. He will be tremendously missed by all who knew him.
