Sandra Flanders Bourassa

Sandra Flanders Bourassa, 85, of Bow died on Friday, November 19, 2021 in Concord, NH under hospice care. She was born on December 27, 1935 in West Stewartstown, NH to Bernice and Gordon Flanders. She attended school in Pittsburg, NH and was a 1957 graduate of New England Deaconess School of Nursing. She married her high school sweetheart, Clarence E. Bourassa, on February 4, 1961. Col. Bourassa (Ret), an attorney, was a career officer in the United States Air Force. As a registered nurse, Mrs. Bourassa worked at Deaconess Hospital in Boston for ten years and was the head nurse of the Neurosurgical Unit. Following her husband’s Air Force commission, she continued her nursing as a volunteer Red Cross nurse at numerous military installations around the United States and in Japan. Sandra was active in the Air Force Officer’s Wives Club and held many offices at various military bases. She also engaged in many volunteer activities, including Special Olympics, military chapel activities, and serving many years as a Girl Scout leader. She was especially proud of being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Sandra was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Marshall Fish and Donald Flanders, her sister, Nina Flanders, and her son-in-law Charles C. Pike. She is survived by her husband Col. Clarence E. Bourassa (Ret) of Bow, her daughter Brooke Bourassa Pike of Milford, NH, siblings, and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will not be held. A private burial took place at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery of Tuesday, November 30th. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pope Memorial SPCA, 94 Silk Farm Rd., Concord, NH 03301. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire has been entrusted with arrangements.
