Sandra Gaylene Garrity

Sandra G. Garrity Sandra (Sandy) Gaylene Garrity, 45, of Brookline, New Hampshire, died Friday July 22, 2005 at her home surrounded by family and friends, following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Ms. Garrity was born August 31, 1959 in North Ridge, California, daughter of Melton W. Garrity of Nashua and the late Alene Garrity. Ms. Garrity moved as an infant to Maine and then later moved to New Hampshire where she lived in Nashua, Laconia, Hancock, Merrimack, and then made her home in Brookline for nine years with her foster family Mr. and Mrs. Miles and Heather Pendry and their daughter Nicolette. Ms. Garrity was employed by The PLUS Company in Nashua where she worked for almost two decades. Sandy was loved and appreciated by all her friends and co-workers and was always so generous, lending a helping hand whenever called upon. While residing in Laconia, Sandra and her family were instrumental in the closing of Laconia State School and Training Center following the class action suit Garrity vs. Gallen, which was monumental for all developmentally disabled individuals so they might live a more independent life within the state of New Hampshire following their ambitions and life’s goals. Despite the many challenges Ms. Garrity faced in her life, Sandy was resolved to stay true to her spirit and taught those closest to her about strength and determination. Sandy enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, getting her nails done, going out to restaurants with friends, picking flowers, and most of all a great cup of coffee or tea. During the final months of her illness Sandy was assisted in her home by a dear friend of hers Shaina Shapiro of Franklin and the Souhegan Home & Hospice Care team. Besides her father Melton W. Garrity her survivors include; sister Tracy Pelletier and fiancee’ Joe Resendes of Nashua; brother Raymond and sister in law Pamela Garrity of Derry; brother Scott and sister in law Carol Garrity of Nashua; three nieces Shannen, Amber, and Summer; and four nephews Joshua, Jeffrey, Damien, and Nicholas. She is predeceased by her mother Alene Garrity of Nashua. There will be a Memorial Reception on Wednesday July 27 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM with a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester. In memorial of Ms. Sandra Garrity donations may be sent to The PLUS Company, 240 Main Dunstable Road, Nashua New Hampshire 03062.
