Listen to Obituary

Sandra “Sandy” Dubin Saxe, 82, of Nashua, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, after a long battle with dementia and Parkinson’s disease. Though these illnesses marked the last two and a half years of her life, they never defined her. Sandy will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and kindness.

Sandy was born in Newton, Massachusetts, to Ethel and Louis Dubin. After losing her father at a young age, she was lovingly watched over by her brothers, Dickie and Bobby. That is, until she met the love of her life, Steve Saxe, the ultimate Chelsea boy. Together they built a life centered on family, friendship, and community.

Sandy and Steve began their married life in Chelsea, Massachusetts, where they formed lifelong friendships, especially with Minnie and Hymie Glassman and their daughter Karen, who became like family. As they raised their family, they moved to Winthrop, Massachusetts, and later settled in Nashua, New Hampshire, where Sandy continued to nurture many treasured friendships.

Sandy and Steve were known for hosting barbecues, pool parties, badminton and volleyball games, and holiday celebrations. She always enjoyed making mandel bread and potato pancakes for her family. Caring for others came naturally to Sandy, and she was always quick to offer help, comfort, or companionship.

Though she valued her many friendships, Sandy’s greatest joy was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was deeply involved in her daughters’ and grandchildren’s lives. She even adored her granddogs, carefully choosing white or black pants depending on which dog she was visiting so the fur would not show—never complaining, simply happy to spend time with them.

Sandy had a wonderful sense of humor and many talents. As a young woman, she attended art school and created beautiful oil paintings. While she excelled at nearly everything she tried, she jokingly referred to herself as a “30-year beginner” when it came to skiing.

Sandy had a remarkable ability to connect with people and make them feel valued. Her friends often became family, and she left a lasting impression on everyone she met. As her dear friend Hymie often said, Sandy was truly “a diamond.”

Sandy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Steve Saxe; her parents, Ethel and Louis Dubin; her brothers, Dickie and Bobby Dubin; and several dear friends who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms.

She leaves behind her loving daughters, Lindsay Silvestri and her fiancé, Christopher, and Jaime Saxe; her cherished grandchildren, Ethan and Brooke Silvestri; her sisters-in-law, Nancy Dubin, Elizabeth Dubin, and Betsy Williams; her sister-like friends Karen and Roberta; and many friends and family who will forever miss her laughter and loving spirit.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Community Hospice House in Merrimack, New Hampshire, whose compassionate care provided comfort and dignity to Sandy in her final days, just as they had for Steve two years earlier.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice House in Merrimack, New Hampshire, in honor of Sandy’s life and legacy of caring for others.

SERVICES: A gathering will be held at a future date.

Sandy’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
